Research Technician

We are seeking a motivated and collaborative individual to join our team as a Research Technician to provide technical support for a research programme investigating vascular mechanisms relevant to Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative conditions. The role will support laboratory-based studies focused on amyloid beta, protein interactions and the development of potential therapeutic approaches.

This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a collaborative academic-industry research programme, gaining hands-on experience in protein and amyloid research. Working closely with researchers and technical colleagues, you will support routine laboratory activities, generate high-quality experimental data and contribute to the effective operation of a research laboratory within a dynamic and inclusive environment.

You will be responsible for:

• Providing laboratory support for research activities including protein and amyloid preparation, buffer preparation and related experimental procedures.
• Supporting protein-protein interaction studies, including surface plasmon resonance (SPR) experiments and other relevant assays.
• Contributing to the analysis, organisation and presentation of experimental data for reports, publications and presentations.
• Supporting the safe and efficient operation of laboratory facilities, including stock management, procurement and laboratory housekeeping.
• Assisting with laboratory inductions, equipment use, health and safety compliance, and the preparation of risk assessments and standard operating procedures.

About You

Essential Criteria

• A degree in Biochemistry, Cell Biology or a related biological science subject, or equivalent qualifications and substantial laboratory experience.
• Practical laboratory experience in biochemistry, cell biology or a related biological science discipline.
• Experience of cell culture, protein-protein interaction assays or related molecular biology techniques.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Desirable Criteria

• Experience of surface plasmon resonance (SPR) or other protein-binding techniques.
• Experience preparing standard operating procedures and laboratory risk assessments.
• Experience using scientific and analytical software packages.
• Willingness to support training and induction activities within the laboratory.
