About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional Deputy Head of Maths to support the strategic leadership and development of our Maths provision. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Maths practitioner who is committed to raising achievement, developing innovative teaching approaches, and helping students with additional needs achieve their full potential.

Working closely with the Head of Maths, you will play a key role in delivering an engaging, ambitious and inclusive Maths curriculum that inspires confidence, builds independence and prepares students for future success.

As Deputy Head of Maths, you will support the leadership of the department while maintaining a teaching timetable. You will help drive high standards in teaching, learning and assessment, ensuring all students receive the support they need to succeed in Maths.

You'll work within a specialist environment supporting students with a range of needs, including SEMH, ASC, ADHD and SEND, using trauma-informed and relationship-based approaches to remove barriers to learning and build positive outcomes.

What you will be doing

  • Supporting the Head of Maths in leading and developing the Maths curriculum across KS3 and KS4.
  • Teaching engaging Maths lessons and delivering GCSE Maths, Functional Skills and alternative qualification pathways.
  • Tracking student progress, analysing assessment data and implementing effective interventions.
  • Helping develop schemes of work, resources and learning strategies that meet individual student needs.
  • Modelling outstanding classroom practice and supporting colleagues across the department.
  • Working collaboratively with pastoral, SEN and therapy teams to ensure a joined-up approach to student success.
  • Promoting high expectations, strong behaviour management and positive relationships.
  • Contributing to curriculum development, quality assurance and wider school improvement priorities.

What you will bring

We're looking for a dedicated and resilient educator who combines strong subject expertise with a genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs.

  • QTS/QTLS or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Strong secondary Maths teaching experience
  • Excellent knowledge of GCSE Maths, Functional Skills and alternative pathways
  • Experience supporting students with SEND, SEMH or additional learning needs
  • The ability to use assessment data to drive progress and improve outcomes
  • Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills
  • A collaborative approach and desire to support and develop others
  • Driving licence required

About Us

Reddish Hall School is an independent specialist day school in Stockport for students with social, emotional and mental health needs, often alongside diagnoses such as autism, ADHD and dyslexia. Many of our students are academically able but have experienced significant barriers to education because of complex mental-health needs, which may include anxiety, suicidal ideation, self-harm and disordered eating.

We offer a nurturing and highly individualised education without compromising on academic ambition. Small classes, skilled teaching and carefully tailored support enable students to re-engage with learning and work towards a broad range of meaningful qualifications and future pathways. Academic study is complemented by vocational opportunities and a strong focus on emotional wellbeing, independence and personal development.

Reddish Hall is not a traditional SEMH provision. It is a calm, aspirational learning community in which students are understood as individuals and supported to feel safe, rebuild confidence and recognise their own potential. Through specialist support and close partnerships with families and other professionals, we help every student prepare for a positive and fulfilling life beyond school.

At Outcomes First Schools, we provide specialist education for learners who need a deeper level of understanding, expertise and support than mainstream education can typically offer. We support students with a wide range of complex, co-occurring and neurodivergent needs, including autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and communication needs, dyslexia and experiences of trauma or adversity.

We are proud to be a part of OFG Education who in 2025 were officially certified as a ‘Great Place to Work’ for the sixth year running.
