  • Drive the quality of teaching and learning across both schools, using observations, learning walks, work scrutiny and professional dialogue to promote consistently high standards
  • Lead assessment, progress tracking and data analysis, ensuring pupil progress is understood across different ages, stages and curriculum pathways
  • Develop, coach and inspire teachers, Subject Leaders and support colleagues, creating a culture of high expectations, professional development and continuous improvement
  • Lead curriculum planning and organisation across both settings, including appropriate pathways, timetabling, staffing and effective use of resources
  • Line manage Subject Leaders, the Assistant Head Inclusion and Assistant Head Outcomes, providing appropriate challenge, guidance and support
  • Work alongside the Headteacher and wider Senior Leadership Team on school improvement, self evaluation, financial planning and strategic priorities across both schools

What We're Looking For

You’ll be an experienced and credible education leader who understands that an exceptional curriculum should create opportunity, raise aspirations and provide a meaningful pathway for every pupil.

You’ll bring:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Significant teaching experience alongside senior leadership experience within an SLT
  • Strong knowledge and experience of curriculum design, development and implementation
  • The ability to provide effective leadership across two separate school sites
  • An understanding of curriculum progression across primary and secondary age groups
  • A successful track record of improving teaching and learning
  • Experience using assessment, progress data and evidence to drive improvement and improve pupil outcomes
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, challenge, motivate and develop others
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage priorities effectively across two settings
  • Confidence working strategically while remaining visible and connected to classroom practice
  • A genuine commitment to improving opportunities and outcomes for pupils with SEMH needs
  • Experience within a specialist or alternative provision setting would be advantageous, as would experience of whole school timetabling, PSHE and RSE leadership

About Us

Belmont School is an independent specialist school providing education for boys aged 5–18 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and associated complex behaviours. The school operates as one community across two phases: a Primary Phase in Rossendale for pupils aged 5–11 and a Secondary Phase in Rawtenstall for pupils aged 11–18.

At Belmont, we provide a safe, nurturing and trauma-informed environment where every pupil is understood, supported and encouraged to succeed. Through small classes, personalised learning pathways and therapeutic support, we help pupils overcome barriers to learning, develop confidence and resilience, and take pride in their achievements.

Our broad and ambitious curriculum provides opportunities for academic, vocational and creative development, alongside a strong focus on social development, independence and essential life skills. We work hard to nurture aspiration and equip our pupils with the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to make a positive contribution to society and achieve a successful future.

With provision across both the Primary and Secondary phases, Belmont offers a genuinely joined-up educational journey, supporting pupils from their earliest years through to adulthood.

The school is easily commutable from Rawtenstall, Bury, Burnley and the surrounding areas.
