About the Role

At Hazel Cottage School, you'll have the opportunity to move away from the pressures of mainstream education and focus on what matters most: helping students unlock their potential.

Working with small groups and individual students with autism and additional needs, you'll deliver personalised learning that meets each student where they are and helps them achieve outcomes they never thought possible. Every day brings the chance to celebrate progress, build confidence, and make a lasting difference.

This is more than a teaching role. It's an opportunity to be part of a supportive, specialist team that believes every student deserves an education tailored to their strengths, interests, and aspirations.

If you're looking for a role where your creativity, passion, and expertise are truly valued, we'd love to hear from you.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Deliver engaging, personalised lessons that inspire and motivate students.
  • Adapt learning to meet a range of needs, abilities, and learning styles.
  • Track progress and celebrate achievements, both big and small.
  • Develop and review individual learning and support plans.
  • Create a safe, structured, and positive learning environment.
  • Support students' academic, social, emotional, and personal development.
  • Build strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Work collaboratively with education and care teams to ensure consistent support.
  • Contribute to school improvement and your own professional development.

About You

We're looking for an enthusiastic and resilient teacher who is passionate about helping students with additional needs thrive.

  • UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent required.
  • Experience teaching students with SEND, Autism, SEMH, or complex needs, or a genuine desire to develop within specialist education.
  • The ability to deliver creative, engaging, and differentiated learning.
  • A calm, patient, and compassionate approach.
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
  • The confidence to support and positively manage challenging behaviour.
  • The creativity to think differently and find new ways to help every student succeed.

About Us

Hazel Cottage is a new school meeting the needs of autistic students aged 4 – 11 years who may have additional needs.

We are situated in St Helens in the former St Patricks Church. At Hazel Cottage everything we do is centred around the individual needs of each student attending our school, with the aim that every learner is able to fulfil their individual potential and thrive.  Alongside a broad, exciting and memorable curriculum, we focus on developing core life skills such as communication and social interaction, sensory processing and emotional regulation. We work towards every student being as independent as possible when they move on to the next stage of their education.

At Outcomes First Schools, we provide specialist education for learners who need a deeper level of understanding, expertise and support than mainstream education can typically offer. We support students with a wide range of complex, co-occurring and neurodivergent needs, including autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and communication needs, dyslexia and experiences of trauma or adversity.

We are proud to be a part of OFG Education who in 2025 were officially certified as a ‘Great Place to Work’ for the sixth year running.
