We are looking for a Head Veterinary Surgeon to join The Liverpool Vets, based in Liverpool, UK. This is a full-time role, offering a salary up to £75,000 dependent on experience, plus benefits.

We are seeking an experienced vet who is not only skilled and knowledgeable, but also compassionate and empathetic towards both animals and their owners. You should have excellent leadership and communication skills.

We have an established and experienced team, backed by a strong and welcoming receptionist team who will ensure our clients feel at home from the moment they set foot in one of our practices or contact us.

We have a large, bright and quiet staff room/chill area upstairs, a separate cat ward, 20-minute consults, cat-friendly, clean and bright consult rooms with lots of natural light, Idexx in-house blood machines, and a top-end ultrasound machine. The practice is situated less than half a mile from Liverpool Central train station, making it an ideal location for commuters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and inspire the veterinary team, driving clinical standards and fostering a culture of excellence.
  • Deliver exceptional care to patients and clients, ensuring treatment aligns with best practice and the RCVS.
  • Support the Practice Director in maintaining and improving clinical standards, contributing to strategic decisions on service delivery and growth.
  • Manage the veterinary team, including regular check-ins, competency reviews, salary discussions, and rota planning in collaboration with the Practice Director.
  • Collaborate on business performance, including budgeting, financial planning, and client service optimisation.
  • Perform advanced clinical procedures, including emergency surgeries such as exploratory laparotomies, pleural effusion drainage, and feline urinary obstruction management.
  • Champion innovation, introducing forward-thinking medical and surgical techniques to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Build strong client relationships, delivering gold-standard care and clear, compassionate communication.

Hours & Salary:

  • Full-time role: 40 hours per week.
