About the Role

Teach Differently. Make Learning Personal. See the Difference You Make.

At Hazel Cottage School, we’re looking for a passionate and creative Teacher who believes the best learning happens when you understand the individual pupil in front of you.

Working with individuals and small groups, you’ll have the opportunity to move away from a one size fits all approach and create learning experiences around pupils’ strengths, interests and individual needs. You’ll help pupils overcome barriers, build confidence and experience meaningful success both academically and personally.

You’ll join a supportive team where collaboration is part of everyday practice. Working alongside colleagues and care staff, you’ll create a structured, engaging and nurturing environment where pupils feel understood, supported and ready to learn.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Plan and deliver creative and personalised learning for individuals and small groups
  • Adapt teaching around different abilities, learning styles and individual needs
  • Monitor and assess progress, using what you learn to shape the next steps for each pupil
  • Develop and review Individual Education Plans, behaviour plans and personalised support strategies
  • Create a safe, structured and stimulating learning environment where pupils can engage and succeed
  • Support pupils to develop academically, socially, emotionally and personally
  • Encourage positive behaviour, greater independence and self regulation
  • Coordinate teaching, assessment and reporting across agreed subjects, areas of learning or key stages
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and care staff to provide consistent support
  • Contribute to school development and continually develop your own professional practice

About You

We’re looking for a Teacher who can combine high expectations with flexibility, creativity and understanding.

You’ll need:

  • UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with a relevant degree
  • A strong understanding of additional needs, including Autism, learning difficulties and complex needs
  • The ability to plan engaging learning and adapt your teaching around individual pupils
  • A calm, compassionate and resilient approach
  • The confidence to support pupils who may present with challenging behaviour
  • The ability to build positive and trusting relationships
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with colleagues
  • Creativity and the confidence to try a different approach when traditional teaching methods are not working
