About the Role

At Crookhey Hall School, we believe the right support can transform a young person's future. We're looking for a dedicated 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to provide consistent, personalised support to a student, helping them overcome barriers, build confidence and achieve success both in and out of the classroom.

This isn't just another support role. It's an opportunity to become one of the most important people in a student's educational journey.

As their trusted adult, you'll build a strong, positive relationship that helps them feel safe, understood and ready to learn. Every day will bring opportunities to celebrate progress, encourage independence and make a genuine difference to their confidence, wellbeing and future outcomes.

Whether you're supporting learning in the classroom, helping develop social skills, encouraging emotional regulation or participating in outdoor activities and educational visits, you'll play a vital role in helping one young person thrive.

What you will be doing

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day.
  • Helping a student access learning and engage positively in education.
  • Building a trusting and supportive relationship that promotes confidence and self-esteem.
  • Supporting emotional wellbeing, social development and positive behaviour.
  • Adapting your approach to meet individual communication and learning needs.
  • Encouraging independence, resilience and life skills.
  • Working closely with teachers, therapists and the wider school team to deliver personalised support plans.
  • Monitoring progress and celebrating achievements, no matter how small.
  • Supporting participation in enrichment activities, outdoor learning and educational visits.

Who We’re Looking For

What matters most is your ability to build meaningful relationships and your passion for helping young people succeed.

  • GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent).
  • A Full UK Driving Licence.
  • A patient, caring and resilient approach.
  • The ability to build positive, professional relationships with young people.
  • Confidence to remain calm and consistent during challenging situations.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Reliability, professionalism and a commitment to safeguarding.
  • A genuine desire to make a lasting difference in a young person's life.

About Us

Crookhey Hall School is a Social and Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) School which caters for boys and girls aged 10 - 17 years of age. We provide young people with an educational experience that will not only extend their academic and vocational social skills and abilities but will also promote personal growth and help to build self-esteem. In this way it is hoped that each individual will aspire to achieve their full potential, eventually leaving school with the determination to make a positive contribution to society in the years to come.

Crookhey Hall School has a 15-acre setting in countryside south of Cockerham, near Lancaster. Due to the location, it would be beneficial for candidates to have a driving licence.

The aim of the site is to provide enough support to unlock each student’s potential so they can live fulfilling and productive lives. We provide young people with as much freedom as possible in a safe and supervised environment. This is achievable due to the dedication and support from a range of employed professionals who are passionate, reliable, and understanding.

At Outcomes First Schools, we provide specialist education for learners who need a deeper level of understanding, expertise and support than mainstream education can typically offer. We support students with a wide range of complex, co-occurring and neurodivergent needs, including autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and communication needs, dyslexia and experiences of trauma or adversity.

We are proud to be a part of OFG Education who in 2025 were officially certified as a ‘Great Place to Work’ for the sixth year running.

Why Join Us?
